Slolove

I am not exactly sure how I feel about this. One side, it's great that single people have a place to meet, and also people have a place to reinvent themselves. In another way it could be kinda creepy because you won't always know who you are talking to. Personally I would feel unsafe if I was actually trying to meet someone to start a serious relationship with.
The first time I heard of second life was on an episode of True Life on MTV. The episode dealt with different people who all used the internet as a way to live their life and be happy. One of the people on the show was a girl in her twenties who lived in San Francisco. She used Second Life as a way to put her music out in the world becuase she was to shy to preform live in front of real people. Eventually she got over her fear and preformed live. This is something I can see Second Life being good for, people just having safe fun and chatting, but to date? Im not so sure.

You
I Don't Believe You……I don’t believe you……You told me you would always be there, that you would never leave my side. Once things began to swell it all went to hell. The taste of your lips on mine still remains, nothing has been able to replace them. I don’t believe you…… You held me close, said you wouldn’t let go. Things happened to fast, who were we to think it might last. The last time my eyes saw yours it was only a dream. I don’t believe you……You Made thing so much more difficult, but I can’t blame you. You said once it was done you’d call, but all that I did is fall. I know you’re not worth it, but I can’t help it. I don’t believe you……You were my guilty pleasure. It seemed like you just gave up, but I hadn't had enough. I don't think I can even forget you. I don't believe you.…… You told me I was your love. It seemed to be right, but you just wanted to fight. I still can't say I'm happy now. I don't believe you……You said we wouldn't be apart. Then you say to move on and forget it, but I just don't get it.I don't believe you when you say don't come around here. I don't believe you……You are my bad influence, I’ve gone down your path now. I thought I would stay sober from it, but than my flame was lit. I have to let you go and now I believe you……

New Agenda
Things seemed to be going well, but what can I say, it's time for day without a gay. On December 10th, 2008, Gays, Lesbians, Transvestites and straights that support will not go to work, not go to school, and will avoid buying anything. This is to show that with out gays, lesbians, etc..... our economy would be even more screwed up. Friday, November 7, 2008

It seems that police officers in Santa Rosa have been paying more attention to Bicyclists and how well they fallow the rules. On Thursday afternoon the police officers of Santa Rosa began pulling over bicyclist who were breaking the law. This was an attempt to show the city of Santa Rosa the offenses committed by bicyclists. 40 people were pulled over by police for either riding against traffic, running red lights and ignoring bike lanes. Out of the 40 people pulled over 27 received citations and 13 warnings. this mainly took place around downtown, Railroad Square, the Junior College area and Mendocino Avenue.
This was all a result to the accident Liz Garcia unfortunately had. She was riding on Mendocino Avenue on the night of Oct. 22. She was riding against traffic and ran a red light. She suffered massive head injuries and died.
The article failed to mention that Liz was going home after hanging out at the belvedere, a local bar in Santa Rosa. She had had a few drinks and no helmet. She right down the street from the belvedere and only lived about 2 blocks away. She was intoxicated and was unable to make right decisions. She was brain dead almost instantly and was kept on life support for a day so that family members could say good bye to her. I know this because Liz was my sisters friends best friend.
I actually believe it is safer to ride against traffic because you can see the cars in front of you. I don't wear a helmet while riding my bike, which I know I should, and I don't always use the bike lane. I still haven't had any accidents on my bike. I think a major reason for her accident was because she was drinking. She was very young and had such a long life to live. I guess this is a lesson in both Bicycle safety and drinking. Be Smart.

As of November 4th 2008, the State of California deemed same-sex marriage illegal. Many couples had ceremonies planned for the next few months, and all had to be canceled. Susan Hanley and her partner Louise Fuhr were supposed to have their wedding today but the Sonoma County Clerk's Office called them to tell them the very saddening new. The vote for proposition 8 was overwhelmingly on the no side in sonoma country, with a vote 66.1 percent to 33.9 percent. State wide the proposition passed by a margin of 52.5 percent to 47.5 percent. The propositions that were similar in Florida and Arizona won with even bigger margins.
Personally I am saddened by the fact that this proposition was passed. It doesn't only personally affect me, and the ones I love, but it also affects people all over. Just because the bible says it's wrong, doesn't mean the state has to agree. I believe that State and church should be completely separate. Why should I or anyone else have their right to marry taken away from them just because we are homosexual. It is not a choice, we are all born differently. We need to move on from the bigotry we live in. I know someday we will look back at this moment and say "WOW." It will only be a little longer 'till everyone is equal. We've come so far, but we've got so far to go.

Report: Alaska Paid for Palin Family TravelAs it turns out, Gov. Sarah Palin decided it was fine to charge the state of Alaska for her children to travel with her to events they clearly not invited too. Later on reports came out saying that the children were on official business. What official business could her children have? Th charges that were given to Alaska included the costs for the hotel and commercial flights for Palin's three daughters to watch their father in a snowmobile race, a trip to New York, at which the govenor attended a five-hour conference and stayed with 17-year-old Bristol for a total of five days and four nights in a luxurious hotel. In totals Palin charged around $21,012 for her three daughters, in some other cases, she has charged the state for hotel rooms for the girls.Alaska law does not specifically address expenses for a governor's children but the law allows for payment of expenses for anyone conducting official state business.
I honestly do not believe that it was necessary for Palin to have the state of Alaska pay for her children's expenses. It was obvious that she just felt that she could get away with it. 'Goggles' try to prevent impulsive e-mailsGoogle has started this new program to stop people from sending drunken emails. Google will set up a little test session before you can email to see if your mind is in the right state. The test will require you to solve a few simple math problem in a short amount of time before sending the mail. If you are able to answer the questions right, then Google will think you are in the right state of mind to send the email. If you answer wrong, Google will not send the email. "To activate Goggles, Gmail users should click the "Settings" link at the top of a Gmail page, then go to the "Labs" section." Google thinks it is fine if you just need a little more help to control yourself. The program is called Goggles which is derived from the slang term "beer goggles."
In my opinion it is kind of ridicules, I mean I didn't know that many people actually got drunk and emailed. This is helpful I guess for those who can't control themselves. If you interested in reading more on this article please visit the fallowing link: 'Goggles' try to prevent impulsive e-mails.

Interlude: Online
I read an article from CNN new called "Can you trust your e-mail?" The main idea of the article was that some people believe that people end to lie more often in e-mails than then tend to do when writing a letter. Two new studies went under was by business professors at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, and Rutgers University in New Jersey and Chicago's DePaul University Both studies suggest that people are more likely to lie in an e-mail than in traditional pen-and-paper communication.
In one of the studies that went underway, a group of MBA Students were each told they would be given $89 (not really), and they were to divide the amount of money between themselves and a fictional second party, who was to only know that the amount of money was somewhere between $5 and $100. There was no negotiation; the other party had to accept whatever offer was made. In the end 92 percent of students lied about the amount of money available.
The way I see it, the students knew that it was just a test and there was no real amount of money nor was there a second person. I think some of the students just did it on purpose, because they knew it was nothing. If it was real, I don't think that high of a percent would have lied.
In the next study, the same idea and prompt was used but the only difference was that these students were to use pen and paper. In the end 64 percent of the students ended up lying about the total amount available.
Like I said for the first test, the students knew it wasn't real. Still a good amount of students would have lied any way, but the numbers might have been better, and it also matters on which students are used. In the end there is no true was to find out if people really do lie more when writing an e-mail, than they do writing a letter.

Got an idea to help the world? Here's $10 millionIt's Goggles 10th birthday and to hep celebrate they are launching a project Called Project 10^100 (pronounced "10 to the 100th"). The idea behind the project is that people from all over the world can submit ideas that could change the world, or at the leas just help people. Goggle is willing to pay you as much as $10 million. It is encouraged that people submit their ideas, in any of 25 languages www.project10tothe100.com up until October 20th. People entering must have a short description of their idea and answer six questions, including, "If your idea were to become a reality, who would benefit the most and how?" People can enter as many ideas as they like! If the judges decide to reward five winning ideas, each will receive $2 million. If only two ideas are chosen, each will receive $5 million, and so on."
I think this project is very cool and could bring up some cool thoughts and ideas. Anyone can enter so that will bring in tons of ideas. Something like this has potential to really help the world.

Whoops Now
China: Third baby dies from tainted milk formula It seems that now 3 babies have died do to tainted milk formula containing "the same chemical involved in a massive pet food recall last year." Mengniu Dairy Group, Chinas largest producer of milk had a recall on three batches of formula made in January. The recall took place after tests showed they were contaminated with melamine. Melamine shouldn't be added to food ingredients, but suppliers in China put this in food to make the substance seem more protein rich.
Over 1,300 infants have been hospitalized with illnesses like malnutrition, kidney stones, and acute renal failure. Two brothers were arrested who Chinese officials say supplied three tons of milk each day to the Sanlu Group, which makes baby formula on Monday. At least 6,300children have now fallen ill, not all have been hospitalized.
Something like this is a big warning, companies need to be so careful, especially when it comes to a product meant for infants. I believe that the Mengniu Dairy Group will be seeing lots of fines and law suits. This is a terrible thing isn't the first time something like this has happened.

Livin' In A World (They Didn't Make)
"12-year-old finds loaded handgun"Earlier today police reported that a 12 year old boy came across a hand gun out in front a Motel 6 in Santa Rosa and turned it in. The Police Department of Santa Rosa was called don Saturday night regarding gun shots near/at the Motel 6 on Cleveland Avenue."Officers found no evidence of a weapon being fired." The Polices were called on Sunday to come to the Motel 6 again cause a 12-year-old boy found a hand gun in the ivy on the property of Motel 6. It is un-known if the hand gun is related to the gun shots reported the night before. “Turning the gun in was a wise decision on the part of the 12-year-old. However, I would remind anyone who finds a gun to treat it as loaded and get an adult.”
I think it is great that the young boy turned in the gun. Something like this can be scary cause a lot of 12-year-old boys would have never turned in the gun. We need to make sure kids don't take guns as something to have fun and play with. This boy did the right thing in turning the gun in, even though he shouldn't have picked it up but got an adult. I hate guns and I am glad this kid did the right thing.

SAT prep services get into video gamesIn an article I read today I learned that "two of the country's largest test-prep course providers are pairing with video game companies for the first time, to give students another way to practice for these oft-dreaded exams." I guess SAT scores are extremely low and test-prep companies are trying to come up with a way that students will want to study. "FutureU" is the name of a PC game that has been designed to help students in simple math, reading and writing. It sells for around $40, in mid-October Nintendo DS should be coming out with a version of the game coasting somewhere around $30.
In my opinion this is great......if it works. I see it like this...... Students won't really pay attention to the fact that they are indeed studying, but when it comes to the actual test you are using a number two pencil and paper. When the student is in a different atmosphere, it is likely that they won't get they same "high score" they can get when playing "FutureU." This will work for some students, but not all.

Love Song For Kids
I would have to say that there is a tie for which is my favorite song that I have written. It is between "Catch Me While I Am Falling" and "Kaleidoscope."
Catch Me When I Am Falling
Written By: Janetbouncer
------------------------------------ know that it will be okay/How do I know it will ever end/Will you be the one to save me/When I’m drowning/Will you be the one to stop me/From all of my pain/You wont be ashamed/To see me crawl/Will you, will you/Will you catch me when I am falling/I lay down on my bed room floor/Pills always at hand/Scissors always there to ease the pain/But I stop myself again/So I stair there when I’m sitting/Anything to heal my head/There is really no use for me/Except the fact of abusing me/How do I know they will be there/How do I know that their right/How do I know that it will be okay/How do I know it will ever end/Will you be the one to save me/When I’m hurt/Will you be the one to stop me/From everything/You wont be ashamed/When I fall/I hope you, I hope you/I hope you catch me when I am falling/I Know it seems it is easy/Easy for me to live/But when you live a life full of lies/It leaves you feeling lost/I continue staring at the wall/Watching as I repeatedly fall/But I know my loneliness/Always gets the best of me/Will you be the one to save me/If ever do it again/Will you be the one to stop me/Before I do die/You wont be ashamed/To see me crawl/I want you, I want you/I want you to catch me when I am falling/Will you/Will you catch me when I am falling/I hope you/I hope you catch me when I am falling/I want you to/I want you to catch me when I am falling/Promise you will, Promise you will/Promise you will catch me when I am falling/Promise you wont be ashamed/To see me bawl/But will you ever, ever/Ever catch me when I am falling.

"Plastic Fantastic"In this new article I read I learned about this new piece of technology that is going to replace paper. The product is The size of a sheet of paper three-eighths of an inch thick and weighing 13 ounces. It has a gray-scale screen and can store thousands of documents for reading and annotating. This product isn't 100% ready but when it is you will be able to add notes and sketches to PDFs, Spreadsheets, text documents, and what other documents you use on your computer. The documents will sync from a computer via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or a wired connection. The display is powered by Lithium ion batteries. An obvious upgrade in future versions would be for it to have a full color screen. These displays will start production in a few days when PlasticLogic's building factory in Dresden, Germany is complete. These displays are expected to run for about $349.
I think these item is pure genius! think of how much money goes into making paper, and how much of it goes to waste. If PlasticLogic can get these displays to work 100% every one who uses paper (especially students) ill want one. reading this I thought a product like this would be great for a school like Tech High! Hey ones there made and if they work well, I might have to get my hands on one. If you want to read more about the display, visit the fallowing link: Plastic Fantastic

"Apple unveils new iPods, Wall Street yawns"In this new article I read, I learned that the new iPod may not be so hot this time around. The article talks about how the iPhone could make the mp3 players obsolete soon becuase sales have gone down so drastically. it was already expected that a fresh new line of ipods would be out before the holiday season, but many people see these as a let down.
The new nano iPods are now thinner than ever and are lightly curved and among other features the screen of the mp3 player will change orientation depending on if it is held horizontal or vertical. There is also a new feature called "genius" which will recommend songs and/or movies based on the owners interest. If a user shakes the iPod, the device will shuffle the play list.
8-gigabyte-$150
This new ipod may sound cool, but I am going to have to go with what people are saying, and I think the iPhone will make all of iPods other mp3 players and versions (except the classic) obsolete soon. I think the classic will stay around just cause it can store so much. Other than that we will have to wait and see how popular these new nanos are.

Sexhibition
I read this article and the basic concept was trying to figure out if what a teenager learns about sex, and how they behave. It talked about different ways teens are taught sex ed. Some are taught in middle school, sometimes the kids are separated and taught about their own sex, some are forced to partake in Abstinence programs some are just taught by their parents, and some learned nothing at all.
I honestly don't think learning about sex has to do with how teens behave, I think it just has to do with that person. Sex ed does help[ teens know what their doing, but it all depends on the person if they go and have sexual intercores.
From my personal self, I started learning about sex, and diseases at a young age. I was in 2nd grade when my mom sat down and read me a book with cartoon drawing (the book looked like something from the 60'2). Then though out middle school I learned about sex ed all three years (6th, 7th, 8th) but each year focused on different aspects. 6th grade was a general over view on sex. 7th grade we learned about teen pregnancy, teen sex and orientaion. 8th grade we focused mostly on Sexual diseases. In 9th grade during p.e. we had a unit on sexual diseases and a person who had aids came and spoke to our class. Now I have learned pretty much everything there is to know about sex (the acts and the science) and I will admit I know more about its practice than the science just from talking about it with so many people. Now see I am an example of someone who knows alot about its practice, and i still have yet to have sex.
So I think it is hard to link that what kids learn in sex ed has to do if they have sex. Each person has their own mind and makes their own decisions.

The Knowledge (Q Sound Mix)
Researchers at The University of Ontario have started work on a project they call "Three Little Pigs." Their project is meant to create a hurricane-proof roof. In North America and many other areas of the world, homes are not engineered to with stand such strong natural occurrences such as a hurricane. So at the end of August researchers went under way to design and engineer a hurricane-proof roof. One problem the researches came across right away was the fact that it would just be impossible to build a wind tunnel that would be the size required to test a full-scale hurricane. The researchers equipment and methods are so much more efficient for testing, their equipment and methods actually replicate the pressures that occur on the surface of a building. The facility they are using is a large movable steel hanger that has a full-scale, 1,900 square foot house that sits in side a steel cage. The steel cage is equipped with 60 pressure boxes which simulate the effects and damage that can be caused by a category 5 hurricane. Researchers had to calculate the pressure the house would experience in a much smaller-scale before they could begin the experiment in the hanger.
I think if researchers could get this to actually work, and like the article states, if it wouldn't make houses coast any more, than this would be a great thing. So many people
would be able to survive horrible natural disasters, and their homes may survive. I believe this is something that money will be well spent on. It is a good cause and can help save so many people. It's ideas and projects like this that make me happy to see going on. It is something so simple to think of, just will be hard to engineer, but if it is able to be done, what a great affect it will have on the world.

Interlude: Twisted Elegance
"Sankofa can mean either the word in the Akan language of Ghana that translates in English to "go back and take" (Sanko- go back, fa- take) or the Asante Adinkra symbol
The Asante of Ghana use an Adinkra symbol to represent this same idea and one version of it is similar to the eastern symbol of a heart, and another version is that of a bird with its head turned backwards taking an egg off its back. It symbolizes one taking from the past what is good and bringing it into the present in order to make positive progress through the benevolent use of knowledge.
Adinkra symbols are used by the Asante to express proverbs and other philosophical ideas. These ideas are numerous and are used throughout the world because of their aesthetic and spiritual beauty. Sankofa has since been adopted by other cultural groups in the area and around the world
Janet Jackson has a Sankofa symbol tattooed on her right wrist. It is the symbol of her 1997 album The Velvet Rope, but stylized and inverted, possibly meaning the opposite: instead of understanding the past to go on, we must go on to understand the past. (The artist Zulu makes no mention of it being inverted and states that the symbol is indeed about understanding and learning from the past in order to move on to the future. Perhaps the orientation of the symbol has more to do with whether it is to be viewed by Janet herself, or by others.)"
Wikipedia:Sankofa
Now that you know what it means (and the Janet jackson reference) I also wanted to say why I personally got it. As you probably know I am a huge Janet Jackson fan, but that isn't the only reason. Yes I had never heard of the Sankofa symbol before I knew of Janet Jackson, but it applies to me. I have things in my past, good and bad that I have and will continue to grow and learn from. The Sankofa symbol on my right shoulder blade will just be a reminder to me.

The basic idea of the article is about Hurricane Ike and how it is still uncertain where it is heading, and if it does come to New Orleans the mayor believes that some residents will be resistant to flee from their homes. I understand the fact that all of these residents had to suffer once before from Hurricane Katrina, but I DON'T think anyone should risk their lives and just stay home if Ike does decide to move further north. As of right now it is to my knowledge that the Hurricane is "20 miles southeast of Playa Giron on the south coast of Cuba and 140 miles southeast of Havana" as I read int he new article. It is still to soon to tell where Ike might hit the US Gulf. Ike has already hit Haiti and killed some 300+ people due to heavy winds and flooding. Before hitting Cuba, around 900,000 people left their homes. this is just some of the damages that Ike has caused.
It is difficult to even think about how it must be to experience and Hurricane if you never had, and I can only image how much fear some people might have. I know Some people are in fear of death, some are even in fear of leaving their homes. For all the places Ike has hit, and places the Hurricane may hit, the people living in these areas already didn't have much money to begin with.
I thought it very smart that authorities evacuated the Florida Keys over this last weekend. Since the Florida Keys are one of the lowest points in the United States I thought the authorities made a smart move.
I feel very sorry for these people having to stress the fact of the Hurricane, and also say a prayer in the memory of those lost already by the Hurricane. Many people may not even be aware of what is going on, just becuase it hasn't hit New Orleans or any other part of the US, people should still have some knowledge that the Hurricane may hit. If it does (which I hope it doesn't, and just stops) I hope everyone who is living in the area is safe.

Thanks 4 reading what I have to say.

Nasty (Cool Summer Mix Pt. 1)
This summer was full of many adventures. The summer started off being super fun, in some ways. About two weeks into the summer I got into a fender bender, and that put a damper on the summer because I had to pay my parents $450. Other than that (and a few other things) the summer was a blast. I went on a few vacations. Went to Reno twice, Pasadena, and Disneyland. I turned 18 in august and had an awesome birthday party. A few days after my birthday, me and a friend went to the tattoo parlor for me to get my first tattoo (The Sankofa Symbol, as seen on the left, I'll tell you about it later). I didn't think I would actually do it, but I sucked it up and did it! I have yet to tell either of my parents, and I don't plan on telling them anytime soon.....I am sad that summer has come to an end, but this is my last year of high school and then off to college.MYM Janetbouncer
