Is Wal-Mart bad for America?

Today I decided to read an opinion article about wither or not Wal-Mart was bad or good for America.

Like you said the majority said No it was not bad, but the people who did think it was bad weren’t that far behind. 59% said No and 41% said yes.
For those who said Wal-Mart was in fact bad for America said things such as “Wal-Mart's business practices are designed to crush healthy competition by driving all competitors out of the market” and “Wal-mart not only cuts the price of its competitor's products, but demands that its suppliers meet its price level.” Yes some of their arguments do have points but I wouldn’t say it was bad for America. For those who said it wasn’t bad for America said things such as “Wal Mart appears to be the model of capitalist efficiency in a market that is currently becoming increasingly inefficient” and “…there is simply nothing wrong with making a profit, especially a very large one. This should be the goal of any company, and once again, Wal Mart is berated for being successful.”
My personal opinion is that Wal-Mart isn’t bad for America. Just because there successful doesn’t make them bad. Yes Wal-Mart can be seen as a bad thing for independent stores that aren’t chains.

You Ain't Right

“Sonoma County's "probable" swine flu case confirmed”

Well today I found out the Swine flu has reached Sonoma county, we all need to run to the hills now, lol but seriously all of this swine flu drama is a bit ridiculous.

It turns out that a 15 year-old girl returned from Mexico earlier this week is Sonoma County’s first confirmed case of swine flu. The girl has already fully recovered but she did in fact have the virus. The girl was never identified and she was cured before going back to school, hence the school she attends was never shut down.

“At this point there is no health risk in any of the 179 school sites. I don’t see it serving any purpose leveling the rise of concern.” This is a quote from the article and I agree completely. I actually think this whole swine flu thing is a bit ridiculous. Only one case has caused an infant to die, and infants have a high risk of dying from the flu. Everyone else that has contracted the virus has become better have a few weeks. I see this as just another type of flu, and think that it is being made into a bigger deal than it truly is.

State Of The World

Family Fights Ghastly Crash Pics on Web

The other day I was on my AOL home page going to check my email and I saw this picture of a pretty high school girl and saw the headline "Family Fights Ghastly Crash Pics on Web" and I started to read the article. "Now, 2 ½ years after the fatal accident, Christos and Lesli Catsouras are still confronted by horrifying images of Nikki's death that are circulating on the Internet, Newsweek magazine reports."

The article talks about how they young girl Nikki was killed in a car crash back on Halloween day in 2006. She had taken her father's Porsche 911 Carrera without permission because her car was taken away from her. According to police reports, Nikki was traveling 100 mph on State Route 241, when she struck another car and lost all control of the car, ultimately slamming into a concrete tollbooth. She died instantly.

As is routine in fatal accidents, the California Highway Patrol took photos of the crash which did include gruesome images showing Nikki's nearly decapitated head covered in blood. Authorities never showed these photos to Nikki's family because they new it would be too upsetting for Christos and Lesli Catsouras to see their daughter's body.

Two CHP officers leaked the photos and quickly they began circulating over the Internet, turning up on everything from pornography sites to social networking services. Nikki's grieving father couldn't even avoid the pictures. A few Days after the crash, the real estate developer opened an e-mail that he believed was a property listing and instead found a grisly photo of his daughter's body.

In my opion this is very upsetting and is not o. I am glad that Nikki's family is fighting to get who ever leaked the photos introuble. At least they have released their daughters senior picstures that way all of her friends and family have something better to remember her by. I was intrusted and did google her name, and instently on the first page pictures of her crash and decapitated head poped up, and it was very upsetting.

Interlude: T.V.

Today when I got to Mr. Smiths class I decided it was about time for me to post a blog that actually had some more thought into it. I decided to log on to my Tech High Titans Start Page and read some of my RSS feeds. On the Santa Rosa Press Democrat site there was an article on a poll that was taken asking if parents should raise their children without television.

As I predicted it turned out that more people said no they should not. Some of the thoughts of the people who agreed with the question included "While there are claims that television watching can have educational benefits and at times serve a useful purpose. There is certainly no harm in at least strongly restricting your child's viewing, if not disbanding with the lounge room babysitter altogether," "Now children sit zoned to the magnetic box. They are bombarded with violence and profanity, and unrealistic portrayals of life. All of this is combined with brainwashing commercials produced by multi million dollar corporations that are only interested in the quick buck." These might be some good thoughts, but it seems like me that these parents just aren't teaching their children right from wrong. Some of the thoughts of the people who were against this said things like "People who disallow their children accessibility to television do them no service. This is not to say that television should be any child's main source of entertainment or education, that television is a proper 'babysitter', or that the parents should not monitor and control what programming IS accessible for their little ones. This is simply not acceptable either. Television's 'boob tube' tag has been transformed through quality programming and media information" and "Television can be a valuable tool to parents when it is used in a way that allows it to entertain or educate, not baby-sit or become the source of primary interaction of the group. To deny children the benefits of television is outdated and overbearing."

If you ask me, I would say that parents should allow their children to watch television, but not allow them to become dependent on it.

All Nite (Don't Stop) (Low End Specialists Radio Edit)

UPDATE:I am excited to finally begin the whole "making music videos" thing again. It has been quite sometime since I last sat down, wrote a decent script, and filmed it. I managed to stay up the other night and flesh out and finish a rough script that will be turning into a music video tomorrow!

UPDATE:Life is great, things have been going my way for awhile now, it was nice for a change. Finally found someone I can connect with on more than one level. Someone who makes me smile and laugh.

UPDATE:
La La La I don't think I can hear you
You say what you don't say
Speaking through your eyes not through your mouth
Trust me, you want me happy
Please me and I promise to do the same too
Truth is my best friend, lies are my enemies
I know you know better but I can't help but wonder
La La La I can hear you oh so well
Never connected this way with another
Wore my heart on my sleeve
Now I think that you have taken it to wear on yours
I feel so odd for having given it up
It is something that I can't help
like the embers in the fire, you are always burning
La La La I won't leave you side
Me, Myself, or I
I guess I'll try and stay by you too...

Come Back To Me

So once again here I am writing blogs. We started a project known as the "Digital Footprints" project, in which we are required to use the internet to the best of our abilities and showcase our work, and our potential.

"Five years from now,

what will happen when you type your name into Google?
What does it mean if nothing comes up?
Five years from now,
what will be more important,
your credentials or your body of work?"

For me if you can type your name into Google and nothing pops up then I believe you are safe but also that you are not out there publishing your work online and showing what your capable of. For me, my body of work will be more important than my credentials. I am hoping to ave a career in the film industry, and what really matters is what you can show you have done, and not just a bunch of degrees.
This project is just lifting up off the ground and I think with a little more time it will become more interesting, and a lot of fun.

The New Style

Do you have any New Years resolutions? How can you make them stick?

I do have a few New Years resolutions, first off, I want to continue going to the gym every week at least 4 times, if not more. I tend to not go cause I will get bored, but I've decided to change my routine every so often. I also want to finish reading a few books that I have had sitting around for along time. Probably the one I want and need to do would be to get a job, because I need a job for the money, and just to have a job, because I haven't worked since the summer. I will make these stick just because I have self discipline and can make myself do them. Other resolutions include less partying and maybe finding someone to spend time with. Other than those few small things I think I am good where I am in life.
