Is Wal-Mart bad for America?Today I decided to read an opinion article about wither or not Wal-Mart was bad or good for America.
Like you said the majority said No it was not bad, but the people who did think it was bad weren’t that far behind. 59% said No and 41% said yes.
For those who said Wal-Mart was in fact bad for America said things such as “Wal-Mart's business practices are designed to crush healthy competition by driving all competitors out of the market” and “Wal-mart not only cuts the price of its competitor's products, but demands that its suppliers meet its price level.” Yes some of their arguments do have points but I wouldn’t say it was bad for America. For those who said it wasn’t bad for America said things such as “Wal Mart appears to be the model of capitalist efficiency in a market that is currently becoming increasingly inefficient” and “…there is simply nothing wrong with making a profit, especially a very large one. This should be the goal of any company, and once again, Wal Mart is berated for being successful.”
My personal opinion is that Wal-Mart isn’t bad for America. Just because there successful doesn’t make them bad. Yes Wal-Mart can be seen as a bad thing for independent stores that aren’t chains.
